Digital media and education platform Eyes On Eyecare (EOE) announced a new appointment to its executive team: Matt Keating as chief financial officer (CFO).

How about a little EOE refresh, first?

A quick rundown: As the leading digital-only media and education platform for eyecare professionals, EOE delivers data-driven content and digital experiences to a global audience of:

  • +60K optometrists and ophthalmologists
  • 24,000 NPI-verified ECPs

What makes it unique: The all-in-one digital platform brings together industry news, virtual events, CE/CME, courses, clinical content, market research, and talent acquisition.

Next up: this new CFO.

Keating joins EOE after most recently serving in the same position at Bryn Mawr Communications (BMC), which operates as a multichannel media company of several eyecare brands.

Prior to BMC, he was also CFO at its sister company Evolve Medical Education, a CE provider.

  • Notably, both BMC and Evolve are subsidiaries of US HealthConnect, a digital media company.

Any other experience to note?

Yes—and a major one, at that: Keating is also the founder and CEO of Elevate Capital LLC, a financial advisory and fractional CFO firm.

The backstory: Keating founded Elevate Capital to “deliver exceptional financial advisory and strategic consulting services to middle-market companies seeking transformational growth.”

  • Check out the firm’s mission and approach here and here, respectively.

So, suffice to say, he’s well prepared for this new gig.

That would be an understatement.

So! Why join EOE?

"Matt has spent the majority of his career in eyecare media finance, so he didn't need this business explained to him, which is extremely rare, and at our level it matters,” stated EOE co-founder and CEO Matt Geller, OD.

With EOE experiencing a rapid growth over the last few years—and 2027 projected to be its largest growth year yet—“having a CFO with Matt's experience allows us to be a lot more deliberate about the products we release and services we offer over the next few years,” Geller noted.

Speaking of the future … what will his role entail?

Keating will be responsible for leading the organization’s finance and accounting as well as overseeing its financial strategy and planning.

Throughout this: He’ll also assist in positioning EOE for that aforementioned continued growth.

As EOE Chief Operating Officer Brett Kestenbaum also emphasized, Keating’s understanding of and experience in the “economics” of the eyecare media industry will prove advantageous for EOE.

  • “That discipline is what will allow us to keep investing in what matters most: exceptional education, products, and experiences for the optometrists and ophthalmologists who trust us every day.”

Any words from the CFO himself?

In speaking on his appointment, Keating lauded EOE’s operations, identifying the companying as a "forward-thinking, technology driven organization that is constantly looking for new and innovative ways to serve the eyecare community.”

”Having spent much of my career in this industry, I see tremendous opportunity to build on that foundation, invest thoughtfully in growth, and continue expanding the value we deliver to eyecare professionals and our partners,” he added.

And speaking of expansion … EOE has been busy as of late, hasn’t it?

Indeed. In fact, just a few months ago the organization launched a new retina research-based mobile app for retina specialists and other ECPs.

The general idea: Think “PubMed meets Instagram Stories,” in which the app delivers a fast, swipeable feed of the latest peer-reviewed retina and ophthalmology research.
