Alcon kicked off the American Optometric Association’s (AOA) 2026 Optometry’s Meeting with a major update for its contact lens portfolio: expanded toric parameters for three key astigmatism lenses.
The news is just one piece to the company’s bigger presence in Phoenix, Arizona, this week—but we’ll get to those details later.
Let’s start with these expanded parameters—which lenses do they apply to?
Three specific toric contact lenses with 1-day, 1-week, and 1-month replacement options.
- PRECISION1 for Astigmatism
- Now with 3,130 parameters
- PRECISION7 for Astigmatism
- Now with 5,490 parameters
- TOTAL30 for Astigmatism
- Now with 5,490 parameters
We’ll dive into each—including their new parameter ranges.
Sounds good! But before we do, what other commonalities do they share?
All three are part of Alcon’s WaterInnovations portfolio of contact lenses—with key properties designed to promote hydration, clarity, and comfort.
Among these properties: Each lens features the company’s proprietary PRECISION BALANCE 8|4 lens design, which:
- Is reported to offer a 99% first-lens fit success rate
- Provides on-eye stability and available in both spheric toric and MF variations.
- Includes stabilizing points at 8 and 4 o’clock to reduce lower lid interaction

And in recent events: Alcon actually showcased a first-of-its-kind WaterInnovations Immersive Experience interactive showcase during Optometry’s Meeting.
Alrighty, now talk more about PRECISION1.
PRECISION1 (verofilcon A) is a daily disposable (DD), silicone hydrogel (SiHy) toric lens that first launched to the U.S. commercial market in early 2021.
Aside from the PRECISION BALANCE lens design, the lens is infused with SMARTSURFACE Technology.
What this does: Provides a micro-thin (2-3 microns), permanent layer of moisture on the outside of the lens to create a highly wettable and lubricious surface.
And its expanded parameters?
These are reported to cover at least 28% more parameters than other DD toric lenses on the market.
- See here for the full updated range (including sphere power, cylinder, and axis).
Next up: PRECISION7.
Launched in 2024 (in which both sphere and toric options were introduced), this is a one-week replacement contact lens (serafilcon A with a 55% water content) marketed as the “closest to a daily disposable lens” that features the company’s unique ACTIV-FLO System.
What this is: A moisturizing (wetting) agent embedded within the lens matrix featuring a proprietary replenishing agent that’s continually released to moisturize the surface for seven days.
- Check out its supporting clinical data.
Also worth noting: With built-in permanent moisturizing and replenishing agents, wearers are intended to receive 16 hours of comfort and vision.
And lastly: TOTAL30.
Launched in 2023, this is the first (and only) monthly toric lens to incorporate Alcon’s proprietary Water Gradient Technology (in addition to the aforementioned PRECISION BALANCE design).
- What this does: Featured in all TOTAL30 lenses, this allows for nearly 100% water at the surface to create a gentle cushion of moisture to ensure lens comfort.
Also infused in this lens: CELLIGENT Technology, which creates a protective layer mimicking the eye’s natural surface to help resist deposits and bacteria for a clearer lens.
Now to the real reason we’re here: these expanded parameters.
Per Alcon, all three lenses’ expanded parameters cover 99% of astigmatic eyes (with a spectacle cylinder range of -0.75DC to -3.50DC) as well as 25% more parameter availability.
Their expanded cylinder range now includes –2.75D as well as around-the-clock coverage in 10° steps.

And when will these expanded parameters be available?
During a media briefing during Optometry’s Meeting on June 18, the company shared that the Total30’s expanded parameters are now available—while those for PRECISION1 and PRECISION will be available in H2 2026.
As for how they’ll be accessible: Most expanded parameters lenses will be available in the fitting sets or accessible by ordering.
So! What else has Alcon been up to at AOA?
The company had a large symposia footprint, with sessions focusing on:
- TRYPTYR (acoltremon ophthalmic solution) 0.003% for dry eye disease (DED)
- TOTAL30 Multifocal for Astigmatism contact lens, which made its debut to the U.S. market earlier this year (our coverage here).
And wasn’t their contact lens ordering app a topic of discussion?
Yes! A session on best practices for using MARLO was held on Friday.
In case you need a refresh: Alcon introduced the online platform in 2024 as an upgraded (downloadable application) version of the MARLO website.
- Available 24/7, this digital service enables personalized contact lens ordering while also providing exam reminders, contact lens tips, and reorder notifications, among other accessibility features. See here for more on its offerings.
And lastly?
The company also brought its FDA-cleared surgical technologies to the show floor, offering attendees the opportunity to experience first-hand demos of the following:
- Valdea Light Delivery System (DLS)
- FDA-cleared and acquired by Alcon in 2025
- Voyager Direct Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (DSLT)
- FDA-cleared and relaunched by Alcon in 2025
