So I have to ask: Is there any clinical research on its impact?

There is … iBlink referred to its mechanisms as an “evidence-based approach” with research supporting “the benefits of increased blink frequency for managing (DES) and dry eye symptoms.”

The clinical research highlighted: A 2015 study published in Optometry and Vision Science that evaluated whether “blink animation software” (iBlink) increased blink rate and improved dry eye symptoms during prolonged computer use over a 1-week period.

And what were the findings?

After evaluating patients with and without dry eye symptoms using the blink software (compared against those using a placebo version of the software), investigators found:

  • A greater increase in blink rate observed among dry eye patients using the software
  • A statistically significant improvement in dry eye symptoms among patients of both the software and placebo (though the difference was more prominent among software users)
