CooperVision is rolling out a new packaging option for its MyDay Energys daily disposable contact lens: 180-pack for an extended supply.

First, let’s get a look at this lens.

MyDay Energys first made its U.S. commercial debut in March 2023 as a new addition to the company’s MyDay family of daily and monthly lenses for astigmatism, hyperopia, and myopia.

To refresh: Other lenses in this brand include the original My Day as well as sphere, toric, and multifocal (MF) options. Sphere powers viewable here.

Check out more about these lenses.

And what do we know about the daily option?

With ultraviolet (UV)-blocking capabilities and a silicone hydrogel (SiHy) material—Stenfilcon A (54%)—MyDay Energys has an oxygen transmissibility of 100 Dk/t (at -3.00 D).

Its unique components extend to an engineered DigitalBoost single-vision aspheric lens design and Aquaform Technology to create a highly moist and naturally wettable material.

Does it target any specific vision needs?

A key focus: Alleviating the effects of digital eye strain (DES) or computer vision syndrome (CVS).

Through its lens material and design, MyDay Energys is designed to help address tiredness and dryness most often linked to digital device usage.

On a related research note: Check out this 2024 report from CooperVision on the national and widespread trends of DES, which found nearly 7 in 10 patients experienced DES-associated symptoms.

Also among the findings:

  • Almost 60% of patients reported never speaking with their eyecare provider about the potential effects of digital device usage.
  • For those who had spoken, only 19% reported their ECP recommended contact lenses for managing DES symptoms.

Nice! Next up: Let’s talk new packaging details.

As we mentioned, CooperVision is now offering a 6-month (180-day) supply of the daily disposable lens in addition to its original 90-day supply.

The thinking: With a larger pack size, patients can reduce the frequency of their reordering and practices’ their overall administrative burden, according to the company.

This format “also serves as an accessible step toward full annual supply conversion for ECPs,” CooperVision added.
