Digital health platform myze is introducing its newest addition to the company’s lineup of daily eyecare products: The Foam, designed for eyelid hygiene.

What do we know about myze?

As we previously reported, the company is developing daily eyecare offerings under the guidance of ocular surface disease (OSD) and dry eye clinical experts.

  • Case in point: Cecelia Koetting, OD, FAAO, Dipl ABO, was recently named chief product advisor.

From customizable routines, products, and educational resources, myze is focused on targeting ocular relief.

And this eyelid hygiene product?

The Foam is a preservative-free (PF) daily lid-and-lash cleanser formulated with manuka honey.

Marketed as an all-natural cleansing antimicrobial for improving eye hygiene and comfort, the product is also reported to:

  • Hydrate and soothe skin around the eyes
  • Be safe for daily use on eyelids, lashes, and the face
  • Strengthen the skin barrier
  • Moisturize while it cleans

Why include manuka honey in its formulation?

To be more precise: The Foam uses medical-grade manuka honey with a methylglyoxal (MGO) score of 711.

About MGO: This is a naturally occurring antibacterial compound found in the nectar of the Manuka flower that contains a natural sugar known as dihydroxyacetone (DHA).

  • Generally speaking: The higher an MGO score, the higher the honey’s potency and antibacterial strength, supporting immune function, digestive health, and inflammation balance.

And what does “medical grade” status mean?

This form of honey is specially processed, sterilized—by gamma radiation, key for medical applications—and tested to be suitable for medical and therapeutics uses, including wound healing.

And in regards to myze’s cleanser?

The Foam’s anti-microbial properties are intended to target the root cause of inflammation by removing dirt, dust, debris, and other microbial "communities" on the eyelids and lashes.

Per Dr. Koetting, the cleanser is backed by the emerging data on the safety and efficacy of manuka honey for eyelid hygiene.

  • “Research continues to confirm manuka honey’s antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects,” she stated. “By translating that science into a daily-use foaming cleanser, myze is … setting the standard for daily lid care.”

Plus: The cleanser is also touted as a “fragrance-free alternative” to tea tree oil—a commonly used ingredient in eyelid hygiene products (such as various gels and pre-moistened wipes or cleansers).

And this isn’t the first branded product myze has launched, right?

That’s correct! The company previously introduced The Daily Lid Wipe, cleansing wipes infused with tea tree oil, euphrasia (eyebright), hyaluronic acid (HA), and other antioxidant-rich ingredients.
