Barti Software has launched a new artificial intelligence (AI)-based feature for its eyecare provider (ECP)-targeted electronic health record (EHR) platform.
Isn’t Barti’s platform already based on AI?
Indeed it is. Designed by (and for) ECPs across the United States, the venture-backed software startup’s all-in-one EHR platform already utilizes a range of AI-based functions.
And did we mention that the software has also received the first-ever eyecare EHR endorsement (plus investment) from the American Optometric Association (AOA)? Via AOA Excel, that is.
Talk about these existing AI functions.
We’ll start with the platform’s charting via native assistance from an AI scribe.
The scribe’s purpose: Transcribing during consultations and generating accurate medical notes for clinicians to review post-consult.
… what else?
The platform also offers the AI Office Copilot (launched in partnership with Google Cloud Platform).
- What this involves: The “copilot” manages routine incoming calls captured from Barti’s Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) system, handles appointment scheduling, and sends automated text reminders.
See here for the platform’s full range of functions (including billing and inventory, two-way messaging, and customizable patient intakes).
Alrighty, now what do these new AI guidelines entail?
The built-in AI tool is designed for ECPs to “instantly reference and apply evidence-based recommendations directly within patient charts.”
More specifically, the functionality enables clinicians to:
- Instantly retrieve evidence-based recommendations without leaving a patient’s chart
- Cross-reference care plans with the most current AOA Clinical Practice Guidelines
- Take note: This tool was developed in partnership with AOAExcel
- (Ideally) improve clinical confidence and compliance with national best practices
Why align with the AOA’s guidelines?
These guidelines are routinely revised to meet the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine – Health and Medicine Division (NASEM) evidence-based standards.
For ECPs: This ensures clinicians have access to the latest peer-reviewed recommendations when using Barti’s software platform, enabling them to make more informed patient care decisions.
And the overall intent?
With eyecare constantly (and rapidly) evolving, CEO and co-founder Colton Calandrella noted that clinicians need tools to keep pace with the latest evidence—”without slowing them down.”
“Access to high-quality, evidence-based information shouldn’t require extra clicks or wasted time,” he stated.
So how can ECPs access this new tool?
Great question. According to Barti, the AI tool is only available to eyecare practices who have the Barti Copilot tier.
