EyeMD EMR Healthcare Systems, along with its subsidiary, Abillifeye, announced a company rebrand to Optivate.
This is pretty major … let’s start with a rundown on the company.
The now-former EyeMD EMR is a clinical software solutions company that designs specialty-built healthcare technology software and medical billing services for eyecare professionals (ECPs).
- Among its product offerings: A suite of software solutions geared for clinical practices and embedded with artificial intelligence (AI)-based workflows. Specifically:
- Electronic medical records (EMRs)
- Practice management (PM)
- Revenue cycle management (RCM)
- Patient engagement
Where can I get more info on these solutions?
See here for our rundown on them.
And one notable mention is the company’s AXON Patient Engagement, launched in 2023 as a complete system enabling clinicians to digitally interact with their patients outside of the clinical setting.

Hold up, what about that subsidiary you mentioned?
Ah, yes. Abillifeye.
What this is: A billing service that first launched with the company in 1998—when it specialized in integrated billing services—and was later revived and rebranded as AbillifEye a few years back, on the company’s RCM side.
Got it. Now to this rebrand — what’s changing, exactly?
The company noted that it has begun a months-long name and identity rebrand, kicking off with a new website and a “refreshed visual identity.”
The goal: To focus on delivering ophthalmic care via “advanced technology that streamlines workflows, empowers providers, and elevates patient outcomes.”
- The plan: To complete this transition by the end of the year.
How will this impact current customers?
The company emphasized that clients can continue to use the EyeMD EMR platform, services, and legacy website with their same login credentials for the time being (at least until the transition is complete).
While customers may see updated branding on its website, product interface, and communications throughout the next few months, “no changes are required (for clients) at this time,” Optivate stated.
- This also applies to the company’s billing details (rates and patent processes included), which won’t change; however, “invoices will gradually begin to carry the Optivate name” on these.
And what happens after the rebrand is complete?
That’s to be determined, at least for now. The company stressed that it’ll provide advanced communication to clients if any other changes will impact their access and workflows.
