Visionix USA is offering attendees of Vision Expo West (VEW) 2025 a first look at its next-generation auto lensmeter and lens verification system: the VX 40 Couture.

First: Visionix.

Based in Illinois, the ophthalmic medical equipment manufacturer's products range from automatic lens edgers and lensmeters to fundus cameras and slit lamps for eyecare professionals (ECPs) in the optometry, ophthalmology, and optical fields.

  • See here for a look (and a notable mention is the Optovue line of optical coherence tomography [OCT]).

And check out our previous coverage on the company’s product and partnership launches.

Now to this product.

Built for in-office labs and ease of use, the VX 40 Couture is a fully automated auto lensmeter and lens verification system intended to provide a comprehensive lens check in 30 seconds.

How: The system encompasses a one-touch operation that involves analyzing key optical parameters as well as verifying every frame and lens type against precise measurements and prescription data—all while displaying real-time results in a 1:1 scale.

  • Immediately following this verification and analysis: A compliance report is generated.
    • The intent: To ensure any potential lens errors or deviations are corrected.

Which optical parameters are analyzed?

  • Spherical power
  • Cylinder
  • Axis
  • Optical center positioning

And those lens types: Single-vision, free-form, progressive, and bifocals.

  • Per Visionix, the system is “compatible with virtually every lens technology and brand.”

Explain this automated component.

Visionix emphasized that while the system works in stand-alone mode, “full integration” unlocks its complete automation capabilities.

For ease of use: The VX 40 can be used with the Briot Couture or WECO E7 edging solutions, enabling the lens holder system to perform a fast insertion of the frame with just one hand.

Then, once an operator places the frame and begins the start procedure, both lens analysis and measurement are 100% automatic.

  • This automation also extends to the left and right eye movements, which do not require any user input to complete.

And the visual analysis?

The system evaluates the respective lens type (progressive and free-form) before relaying their measurements to the human operator via a visual topographic map.

This map displays the power ranges across the lenses, with three “PowerMaps” offering a visual representation of the lens design characteristics to verify that the lenses are correctly made.

Where can I get info on technical specifications?

Download the product brochure for those details.

And if I’m at VEW this week …

Stop by the Visionix booth #F10065 to check out the system for yourself (and ask about pricing).

And if you’re not attending VEW: Schedule a virtual demo.

Vision Expo West 2025 is being held Sept. 17-20, 2025, at The Venetian in Las Vegas, Nevada.
