Carrot (formerly Virtual Field) recently launched a new addition to its virtual reality (VR) visual diagnostic system: a real-time analytics dashboard for eyecare practices.

Nice! First though: Can you refresh me on Carrot’s name change?

You bet. In fact, we can do you one better and direct you toward our coverage on the company’s rebrand earlier this year (in March).

In general: Despite the change, Carrot continues to offer its over 2.4K eyecare provider (ECP) customers a fully integrated suite of 18 VF and function tests spanning five Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes.

Talk more about its visual diagnostic platform.

Aside from those key tests (think: perimetry, ocular motility, pupillometry, kinetic field testing, and integrated color vision), the platform also features:

And how does this new analytics dashboard fit in?

Operating within the Carrot platform, the Carrot Analytics Dashboard is designed to offer clinical practices real-time visibility of their diagnostic workflows across providers, locations, and times.

  • How: By connecting clinical activity to operational performance, enabling practices to “see what’s happening, understand why, and improve it continuously”—all without requiring manual data tracking.

And its capabilities?

The dashboard’s real-time performance tracking allows ECPs to monitor trends as they develop and make decisions accordingly—all while bringing fragmented workflow data into a centralized, single view.

The theme: For practices to operate less on “assumption” and more on “data-driven action” by:

  • Tracking testing volume
  • Measuring utilization across devices and other providers
  • Understanding how effectively tests are used in patient visits
  • Ensuring each test performed is accounted for and billed properly
    • Recovering missed revenue
  • Identifying gaps between data performance and capture
    • Uncovering patterns tied to scheduling, staffing, and demand

And can this be utilized by practices with multiple locations?

Indeed it can. Carrot noted the dashboard enables performance management “at scale.”

For example: Multi-location organizations can “compare sites in real time, identify variability, and standardize workflows across their network.”

Nice! So, is this available separate from the company’s VR platform?

Not at all. The dashboard is actually accessible within the platform.
