Ocumetra is introducing the mEYE Suite, a new all-encompassing myopia management software designed for advancing treatment options and patient outcomes.
The platform is featured at Vision Expo East in Orlando, Florida, this week.
Let’s start with this company.
Founded in 2021 and headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, the company develops web-based data analytics tools to support eyecare professionals (ECPs).
Its educational tool portfolio: Geared towards enabling clinicians to use real patient data for making clinical decisions in managing pediatric myopia.
These customized resources are focused on the following tools:
- Patient communication
- Axial length (AL) estimation
- Profiling
- Clinical support
- Advanced analytics

Now talk about the mEYE Suite.
Referred to as an “all-in-one,” web-based myopia management software platform, the mEYE is based on a global database spanning +1 million patient records and “an extensive body of scientific literature,” according to the company.
The key components of this platform are three core modules:
- mEYE Guide
- mEYE Gauge
- mEYE Score
Break each of these down.
Starting with mEYE Guide: This is a subscription-based communication tool to assist ECPs in helping parents understand the impact of myopia and the long-term benefits of management on their child’s ocular health.
- What it does: Creates a customizable and easy-to-comprehend report for parents to share and access with the following information and data:
- Refraction centile graphs
- Vision simulator
- Myopia management benefits
- Additional resources
Next: mEYE Gauge, a machine-learning tool that estimates AL without the need for biometric instrumentation.
- What it does: “Gauges” a pediatric patient’s current approximate ocular AL plus their projected AL as an adult.
And the third module?
As the platform’s newest module, the mEYE Score works with the mEYE Gauge and mEYE Guide to deliver a system that reduces chair time and optimizes treatment results through:
- Comprehensive communication (for parents)
- Clinical decision-support (for ECPs)
Two other notable offerings: Intuitive centile charts and interactive vision simulations.
Get into the technical side of things.
With no additional software installation required, the mEYE Suite is accessible from any web browser via a single sign-on.
Ocumetra also noted the following features:
- Multilingual options for enhanced ECP-patient communication (with new languages regularly released)
- Data security compliance
- Compliant with HIPAA (in the U.S.) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR; in the European Union.)
- ISO/IEC 2700 certified for information security
- Targeted patient-friendly design
- For easier comprehension and simplification of myopia information
- Can be integrated into electronic health record (EHR) systems
Any supporting clinical data backing this system up?
There is: Ocumetra’s 2024 User Report.
The company reported the following findings based on clinicians who utilized the mEYE Suite:
- Treatment uptake grew to 82% (from 20%), on average per clinical practice
- ECP’s confidence in myopia management grew to a 70% average improvement
- Over a 6-month period, 8.2 minutes of mean chair time were saved
Nice! So what’s the overarching intent with it?
According to Ocumetra CEO James Loughman, the suite is designed to eliminate the “burden of ‘selling’ myopia management” and let ECPs turn their attention to “clinical necessity rather than price.”
How, exactly? By “shifting the conversation from costs to risks and benefits, fostering greater acceptance and confidence among parents,” he stated.
And where can I get more information about adding this to my practice?
