CooperVision announced the appointment of healthcare veteran Steven Robins as president of its Americas division.

Talk about Robins.

With 30 years of experience in the consumer healthcare field, Robins is referred to as a“high-profile” corporate leader who has also held consulting positions within the vision care industry.

Get into specifics on his experience.

Prior to joining CooperVision, Robins served as managing partner and principal for The New England Consulting Groupworking primarily with Fortune500 organizations in the medical device, pharmaceutical, and over-the-counter (OTC) vitamin sectors.

Prior to that, he held positions at:

  • Bausch + Lomb: chief marketing officer; president of North American Vision Care
  • Johnson & Johnson: general manager, Consumer Healthcare business (in Canada)
  • Pfizer Consumer Healthcare: marketing director

Has he worked with CooperVision before this?

Yes, actually … CooperVision’s Chief Commercial Officer Debbie Olive noted that Steven has worked with the company on a number of “strategic, priority projects” over the years.

Among those projects: The U.S. introduction of MiSight 1 day contact lenses, which were approved by the FDA in 2019 (see here for a look at the company’s 5-year celebration of the milestone from the 2024 American Academy of Optometry [AAO]).

Nice! So who is he replacing?

Robins is preceded by Alex Wilkes, who was appointed in May 2022.

And when is this effective?

Great question. While not explicitly stated, it appears this change is already in effect.

Lastly, what else has the company been up to?

Check out our recent coverage.
