Eyes On Eyecare has appointed a new Associate Director of Medical Communications: Alan G. Kabat, OD, FAAO.

So what’s his background?

Dr. Kabat comes to Eyes On Eyecare with a wealth of experience in both clinical optometry and the ophthalmic industry. He rose from associate to tenured professor in his time teaching at Nova Southeastern University (NSU), Southern College of Optometry (SCO), and Salus University.

His work has been published in both peer-reviewed and trade journals, including but not limited to:

  • Clinical Ophthalmology
  • Clinical Optometry
  • Cornea
  • Optometry and Vision Science
  • Ocular Therapeutics Handbook: A Clinical Manual

How about most recently?

Most recently, Dr. Kabat was a senior medical director at Viatris (formerly Oyster Point Pharma), where he was responsible for bridging the gap between research and practice.

Exactly how many ODs are at Eyes On Eyecare?

Yes! Dr. Kabat joins a team of three other optometrists (ODs) at Eyes On Eyecare:

  • Matt Geller, OD, co-founder and CEO
  • Antonio Chirumbolo, OD, director of Client Services
  • Jackie Garlich, OD, FAAO, president of Glance (this very publication)

Since 2024, Eyes On Eyecare has also been in close partnership with Visionary Medical Education, LLC, led by Michael S. Cooper (“Coop”), OD, president.

What do they say about this?

“Dr. Kabat has an incredible track record of merging theory with practice, and he knows how to deliver an ROI for our roster of clients,” Dr. Geller said.

“In our new world of AI and large language models, it's imperative that we provide education of the highest caliber that not only meets but exceeds our readers' expectations. Dr. Kabat's expertise is pivotal in achieving this goal," he added.

And when will this take effect?

Today—February 26, 2024.
