EyeCare Partners LLC has selected its newest head of the company: Chris Throckmorton.

Refresh me on this company.

Based in St. Louis, Missouri, EyeCare Partners (ECP) is a leading provider of clinically-integrated eyecare, with a national network of over 300 ophthalmologists, 700 optometrists, and 700+ eye care practitioner-affiliated practice locations across 30 markets in 18 states.

Now Throckmorton … what’s his background?

A 30-year veteran of the healthcare executive industry, Throckmorton most recently served as president and CEO of Athletico Physical Therapy, a provider of outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation services.

Additionally, he was previously CEO of Pivot Physical Therapy, an Athletico company that also provides physical therapy and athletic training services, since 2019.

What else?

His experience also includes:

  • CEO (IntegraMed Fertility)
    • Fertility treatment center
  • Group president & COO (Surgery Partners)
    • National operator of surgical facilities and ancillary services

Per ECP, Throckmorton is recognized for his “strategic vision, operational acumen, and commitment to delivering high-quality care.”

So who is he replacing?

Throckmorton will take over for interim CEO Benjamin Breier, who served in that position since former CEO David A. Clark left the company in September 2023.

Clark had held the position since April 2021.

Any specific reason why Clark left?

While the company didn’t elaborate beyond announcing his departure, Bloomberg Law reported that, in the week prior to his leaving, the company had posted quarterly results indicating it had burned through $160 million of cash in the first two quarters of the year.

Interesting … so when is this executive change effective?

According to ECP:  Jan. 29, 2024.
