Bausch + Lomb Corporation and Glaucoma Research Foundation (GRF) are partnering to launch the “Faces of Glaucoma” campaign in support of glaucoma awareness.

Refresh me on GRF.

Founded in 1978 in San Francisco, California, GRF is a national non-profit organization focused on seeking a cure and solutions for preventing glaucoma, slowing its progression, and potentially restoring related vision loss.

Let’s talk glaucoma statistics.

Per the campaign:

  • Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness
  • 3 million Americans have glaucoma
  • There is a 10 times greater likelihood to develop glaucoma if a direct relative has the disease
  • 50% of the world’s glaucoma cases are undetected

Now this campaign.

In honor of January as Glaucoma Awareness Month, the month-long campaign is highlighting diverse patient stories to raise awareness of the disease, as well as sharing educational resources to encourage patients to:

  • Take care of their eye health
  • Educate themselves
  • Receive an annual eye exam

What else is it offering?

A Glaucoma Eye-Q test offers participants the opportunity to assess their risk for glaucoma, while resources on the following are also available to review:

So how can I get involved?

Two options:

  • Donating
    • Throughout the month of January, B+L and GRF will match any gift made to GRF (up to $20,000).
  • Fundraising
    • Start a fundraiser to raise awareness.
