Bausch + Lomb Corporation has introduced a new surgical planning software designed for its eyeTELLIGENCE platform.

Let’s start with Eyetelligence.

Launched in 2018, the eyeTELLIGENCE software platform is a cloud-based application designed to allow surgeons access to their personal settings using any of B+L’s Stellaris Elite vision enhancement systems.

To note, the Stellaris Elite system is a combined phacoemulsification and vitrectomy system capable of supporting both anterior and posterior surgeries on one platform.

And how does this new software relate?

Per B+L, it’s intended to “streamline surgical planning, information flow, and enable electronic medical record (EMR) and diagnostic device integration,” from the office to the operating room (OR).

The goal: for surgeons to digitally manage data and personalize their approach for each surgical case.

What other features are included?

The software includes two new applications—one surgeon-focused and the other nurse-focused—to provide them with access to timely patient- and procedure-related data for a more streamlined workflow. Other accessible features are:

  • Case preparation
  • Surgery
  • Scheduling
  • Nursing engagement

The apps also include QR code scans to verify lens selections, with staff members alerted if the wrong lens has been selected.

Give me some advantages.

Notable capabilities include:

  • Avoiding lost data and time
  • Compatibility with various EMR and diagnostic platforms
  • Eliminates potential need for purchasing specific equipment
  • Reduced to minimal need for staff training on new technologies

Can it also connect to the Stellaris Elite?

Yup! Just as with the eyeTELLIGENCE platform alone, the new software connects to any Stellaris Elite machines a surgeon may use for surgical planning, giving them access to key data and providing them with remote technical support.

So … where can I find this?
