J&J Vision, Sight Sciences add to executive teams

Johnson & Johnson Vision, Inc. (JJV) and Sight Sciences, Inc. announced this week the appointment of two additions to their companies’ executive teams: Erin Powers and Matt Link, respectively.

Let’s start with JJV.

The company revealed that Erin Powers, a 20-year veteran of the ophthalmic industry, is assuming the role of vice president of U.S. Sales and Marketing for its Surgical Vision portfolio.

What’s her background?

Most recently, Powers was vice president of Global Marketing & Product Strategy at BVI Medical. She previously served in various executive roles at Carl Zeiss Meditec AG, Alcon, and AMO/VSX.

She is also the standing president of the Ophthalmic World Leaders (OWL) organization, on the Board of the International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS), co-chair of the Women of Dartmouth Development Committee and a member of the Chief network, according to JJV.

And her areas of expertise?

Her experience includes the following:

  • Establishing strategic business functions
  • Developing ophthalmic/optometric market segments
  • Medical affairs and professional education management

Matt Link is the company’s newest chief commercial officer (COO), bringing with him two decades of healthcare and medical technology industry experience,

And his background?

Link most recently served as managing partner at Orion Healthcare Advisors LLC, a consulting service provider. He previously held various regional and executive leadership positions over a 15-year period at NuVasive, a medical devices company for spinal surgery, as well as positions at Depuy Orthopedics and Depuy Spine.

He currently serves as a member of the board of directors of Springbok Analytics, Fibrobiologics, and DinamicOR.

Further, Link also previously served on the board of directors of the Coulter Translational Research Endowment at the University of Virginia.

What are his areas of expertise?

Link’s experience includes designing and executing revenue growth strategies as well as market development—skills that will be of use for Sight Sciences in its growing focus on the surgical glaucoma and dry eye spaces.

So when do they assume their respective roles?

Per Sight Sciences, Link’s position was effective September 11, 2023.

Per JJV, Powers will begin her new role in October 2023.
