Visionix USA announced the latest version of its lens edging system: the Briot Attitude 3, a personalized eyewear technology

Refresh me on the company.

Headquartered in France, Visionix is a medical equipment manufacturing company specializing in providing technology for ophthalmologists, optometrists, and opticians within the following fields:

  • Optical coherence tomography (OCT)
  • Screenings
  • Refraction
  • Automatic edgers
  • Automatic lensmeters
  • Autorefractometers
  • Slit lamps

Now talk about this new technology.

The Briot Attitude 3 edging system is the sixth addition to Visionix’s portfolio of automatic lens edgers, all designed to streamline the lens processing workflow and, ideally, significantly improve efficiency and productivity in optical practices.

Each system works to automatically measure, shape, and edge lenses, leading to reduced manual labor and faster processing times, according to the company.

Go on …

The customizable edging system is designed to automatically measure, shape, and edge lenses, with three key features:

  • Precision
    • Optimal edging precision, tailored to each patient
  • Efficiency
    • Fast and reliable customized lens production for reduced protection time and increased practice efficiency.
  • Versatility
    • Wide range of lens type production, including:
      • Single vision
      • Multifocal
      • Progressive

And this new addition?

The Briot Attitude 3 blocker includes wavefront technology and parallax-free centering, which allow for the lens design, layout, and power map to be visible as well as enabling visual correction to be considered during the centering and blocking process.

Further, via a high-definition camera, detailed lens engravings can be viewed on progressive lenses.

To note, for instances where the print layout or lens engravings deviate, a user can choose on the best centration.

How does it handle modifications?

Using intelligent-shape modification:

The system’s blocker lets a user see the actual lens map in the background and where the power channels will be located within the new shape or size (for optimal visual comfort and lens performance), according to the company.

Any new features?

Yes, actually!

Using new sensors and improved software, the Torque Management System (TMS) allows for users to maintain a steady and accurate pressure level to lenses, reducing any potential risk for misalignment.

TMS automatically adapts edging cycles based on lens thickness and material; using Visionix’s proprietary TrueScan technology can easily trace extreme wrap frames—all while preventing distortion.

What else?

The system also includes gravity-based optical tracing, drill hole customization, and a digital lens clock.

See here for more details, including technical specifications.

Also of note, the company is planning to unveil the Briot Attitude 3 at Vision Expo West (VEW) in Las Vegas, Nevada, September 27-30, 2023 (Booth #F10065).
