Vantage Surgical Solutions announced that it has acquired Ophthalmic Surgical Solutions (OSS), a Kansas-based company specializing in ophthalmic surgical equipment and services.
Refresh me on Vantage.
Vantage, a portfolio company within Pharos Capital Group ( a physician-funded investment firm) is a provider of affordable, mobilized, specialty surgical procedures for rural communities across 23 states.
Originally launched in 1991 as Vantage Outsourcing, the company rebranded in 2022 as part of its new focus on delivering more expansive capabilities across specialty surgical services—hospitals, surgery centers, and physicians—and in new specialty markets.
Why OSS?
With both companies’ backgrounds specializing in ophthalmic surgery access, the goal is to expand both their product portfolio and on a geographic level to reach a broader audience across the country.
Will this impact current OSS clients?
According to Vantage, nope.
In fact, they might even benefit from it. Customers should expect “a smooth transition as the integration process takes place,” with uninterrupted service and support through the companies’ growth and expansion, according to the companies.
The acquisition will also allow customers the opportunity to gain access to a wide variety of surgical resources along with enhanced clinical and technical support.
How else will OSS be integrated?
According to the companies, OSS founder and CEO Duane Kibbee will join Vantage as clinical manager.
Any financial info available?
Nope; financial terms weren’t disclosed in the companies’ announcement.
So what’s next?
With this acquisition, the company is planning to introduce its core focus of equipping physicians and facilities with surgical solutions via VANTAGE Clear, a new brand identity within Vantage’s ophthalmic division which can offer cataract services such as:
- Phacoemulsification units
- YAG lasers
- Microscopes
- Intraocular lens (IOL) supplies
- Consumables
- Scheduling assistance
- Referral development
- Recruitment assistance
Through the use of up-to-date equipment and no requirement to receive large investments from customers, each solution is specifically tailored to patients’ and surgeons’ needs.
Input from the companies?
Vantage CEO Bradley Hill stated that, by combining the expertise and resources of both companies, “We will be able to provide a wider range of solutions and deliver unparalleled value to rural health communities.”
“Thanks to our partnership with Pharos Capital Group, we anticipate additional acquisitions that are focused on improving patient outcomes, increasing access to care, and/or lowering the cost of healthcare.”
