EyeCare Partners, LLC has named Daniel Miller, MD, PhD, as the company’s new executive medical officer for its ophthalmology organization.
Let’s start with this company.
Based in St. Louis, Missouri, EyeCare Partners (ECP) is a leading provider of clinically-integrated eyecare, with a national network of over 300 ophthalmologists, 700 optometrists, and 700+ eye care practitioner-affiliated practice locations across 30 markets in 18 states.
Now Dr. Miller.
Dr. Miller, a board-certified and fellowship-trained medical and surgical retina specialist, has specialized in research on macular degeneration, diabetes, and vitreoretinal surgery.
And his experience?
He has served as chief medical officer (CMO) and was a member of the Board of Directors at CEI Vision Partners, LLC—a premier ophthalmology management services organization founded in 2018 by ECP through a partnership with Cincinnati Eye Institute (CEI), where he has served as vice-chairman of CEI’s Clinical Governance Board.
Go on …
Also of note, Dr. Miller joined Alcon’s research & development team in April 2023, where his role focuses on developing pharmaceutical strategies, assessing new retina technologies and integrating future pharma innovations into the pipeline.
Will Dr. Miller still be working at CEI?
According to ECP, he’ll still be available to see patients on a limited basis.
Gotcha. So what’s his history with ECP?
Dr. Miller is also currently a chair of the company’s Medical Executive Board.
Now talk about this new role.
Newly-created by ECP, the executive medical officer will be a multifaceted position consisting of clinical and business leadership, where Dr. Miller will oversee “all ophthalmology medical operations” to ensure high quality care, efficient clinical and surgical operations, and patient service, according to the company.
What else?
Per an ECP news release, Dr. Miller will be head of an integrated team as part of ECP’s physician network of more than 1,000 eyecare providers and 700 affiliated practice locations spanning across 18 U.S. states and 30 markets.
