Samsung Electronics has launched a new addition to its 2023 television and monitor products: the SeeColors mode, designed for people with color vision deficiency (CVD).

Tell me more.

The SeeColors mode was originally developed as an application in 2017 for those with CVD.

Since then, the technology has been integrated into Samsung TVs’ and monitors’ accessibility menus in order to be more easily available for users.

How does it work?

The mode features nine picture presets with adjustments for red, green, and blue levels for CVD patients to choose from based on the degree and type of their condition.

To note, the company stated that the SeeColors mode is not intended for diagnosing, curing, mitigating, treating, or preventing any disease or medical problem.

How legit is this feature?

According to Samsung, SeeColors mode recently received “Color Vision Accessibility” certification from TÜV Rheinland, a global testing organization that offers quality and safety certifications across various industries.

So which TVs does the mode come with?

It’s currently available on Samsung’s Neo QLED, QLED, OLED, Smart Monitor, and the G955C gaming monitor.

How about phones?

SeeColors is available as an app on phones as a way to adjust a TV's picture; just make sure the TV and phone are connected to the same network.

See here to download the app and here for instructions (scroll down).

What if my 2023 model doesn’t have it?

Not to worry — per the company, a software update will be available to add the mode to the accessibility menu.

What if I don’t have a 2023 model?

Samsung’s website offers a how-to guide for adjusting the display colors based on personal performance.
