GoCheck Kids announced that Naveen Kathuria will lead the company as its new chief executive officer (CEO).

I need some background on GoCheckKids first.

Founded in 2010, GoCheck Kids is a healthcare technology-based company offering pediatric vision screenings to clinicians via a cloud-based mobile platform.

The FDA-registered and CE-certified platform is currently offered to 6,500+ pediatric offices across the United States and Europe; includes billable CPT codes (99173, 99174, 99177); and meets clinical guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Ophthalmology, as well as the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.

How does it work?

GoCheck Kids ships iPhones directly to eyecare practitioners (ECPs), where they may use the cloud-based mobile platform in their offices to quickly screen a pediatric patient for potential vision impairments. The technology delivers photoscreening (for patients 1 to 6 years old) and visual acuity testing (for patients 4 to 21 years old).

Results are sent and integrated into a practice’s electronic medical record (EMR) system.

Anything else to know?

Over 4 million vision screenings have been performed using GoCheck Kids’ platform since the initial launch over 10 years ago. According to the company, practices using GoCheck Kids have experienced a return on investment of up to 14:1.

Now tell me about this new CEO.

Naveen Kathuria has 20+ years of extensive experience working with vulnerable populations—including entrepreneurship, law, and healthcare management consulting. He is the former CEO of eFamily Care, a virtual family caregiver support solution, where he partnered with Medicaid-managed care organizations and large health systems.

Kathuria also served as senior vice president of partnerships and compliance at Array, an early-stage virtual psychiatry and therapy platform.

Significance?

In the words of Fred Goldwater, GoCheck Kids’ executive chairman of the Board: “[Kathuria’s] leadership will continue to propel GoCheck Kids forward as the leading digital vision screening solution enabling children to get access to the care they need to live healthier lives.”
