Lumibird Medical has launched the Tango Reflex Neo by Ellex, a next-generation YAG/SLT laser for glaucoma treatments, premium capsulotomy, posterior membranectomy, and iridotomy. The device is FDA 501k cleared and CE mark approved.

What’s different about the Tango Reflex Neo?

There are several features available with this laser: a heads-up display, Q-switched, frequency-doubled Nd:YAG, red and green aiming beams, and consistent energy delivery. Most importantly, perhaps, is the combination of energy control, true-coaxial illumination, and up to 2 mm posterior offset, facilitating more precise capsulotomies.

Tell me more.

Lumibird calls this method “Premium Refractive Outcome Capsulotomy,” or PROcap—a technique that uses precise energy delivery to efficiently create a capsule opening with the jet-effect from the collapsing cavitation bubble.

Significance?

As an alternative to Nd:YAG posterior capsulotomy, the method was developed “to improve the geometry of capsule openings, maximize IOL protection and significantly reduce post-operative iatrogenic floaters,”according to the company. (via.)
