NIDEK launches the NP-T Preloaded Toric IOL Injection System

NIDEK CO., LTD., a global leader in the design, manufacture, and distribution of ophthalmic, optometric, and lens edging equipment, announced the launch of the NP-T Preloaded Toric IOL Injection System.

Although previously only available in Japan, the NP-T will now be available globally.

The NP-T is a fully preloaded injection system with an aspheric hydrophobic soft acrylic toric lens that provides superior operability and reliable intracapsular fixation. This system allows for a simple two-step process which involves filling the viscoelastic material and pressing the plunger for quick and easy operation. The dual silicone ring on the plunger ensures optimal and constant resistance for stable, consistent and safe IOL delivery.

The NP-T is preloaded with the Aktis Toric IOL that incorporates stable lens material and an innovative lens design. Once the lens is in the bag, it is remarkably stable with an average absolute rotation of 2.1°± 1.7° from 1 hour to 6 months postoperatively.*1

The wide contact area between the long haptics and the capsule and the 90° haptic design provides stable, well-centered IOL implantation.

The NP-T is available in a wide range of powers from 1.0 to 30.0 D and cylinder power on the IOL plane from 0.75 to 6.00 D.*2 The injection system adopts the same mechanism as the NIDEK NP-1/NP-1C. Toric and non-toric IOL implantation with the NIDEK NP series can be performed with the same technique.

“The addition of the NP-T to our NP series increases the range of available options and enhances the benefits of superior operability of our injection system. The NP-T and NP-1/NP-1C are available in a wide range of powers and the easy operation using the same mechanism will enhance surgical workflow.” says Motoki Ozawa, president and CEO of NIDEK CO., LTD. “We are proud that the ideal preloaded monofocal/toric IOL injection systems are now available globally for providing safe, comfortable IOL delivery and good postoperative outcomes.”
