Eyes On Eyecare draws more than 1,700 to its first hybrid event

ODs and MDs converged at the Oquendo Campus April 19-20, 2024.

San Diego, California – May 9, 2024 – Eyes On Eyecare® announced that INSIGHT, the organization’s inaugural hybrid event, drew over 150 optometrists and ophthalmologists to the Oquendo Campus in Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as over 1500 virtual attendees from April 19-20, 2024. In-person attendees had access to six unique hands-on labs and earned up to 12 COPE-accredited continuing education (CE) credits, while the virtual attendees earned up to 10 COPE-accredited CE credits.

“INSIGHT is evidence of our ability to add an important in-person component to our already successful, groundbreaking virtual events,” said Matt Geller, co-founder and CEO, Eyes On Eyecare. “Our goal has always been to provide today’s ODs and MDs with premier education that can elevate patient care. Because we each learn differently, Eyes On Events is now able to deliver CE to those who enjoy in-person learning opportunities.”

Post-event survey data revealed that:

  • 99% of onsite attendees rated they were “very satisfied” with the event.
  • 94% of onsite attendees rated the education “above average or excellent,” with the majority rating it excellent.
  • 95% of onsite attendees rated the speakers “above average or excellent,” with the majority rating it excellent.

Attendees at the in-person INSIGHT event took advantage of the 70,000-square-foot facility at the Oquendo Campus, which includes state-of-the-art lab space for hands-on learning. Because of the hybrid nature of the event, both in-person and virtual attendees could access expert-led sessions on topics, including:

  • Keys to building a powerhouse practice
  • Deep dives into dry eye disease
  • State of the union on myopia management
  • How to detect AMD, GA, and DR even earlier
  • Next-gen contact lens technologies
  • Mastering a collaborative-care approach to MIGS
  • What today’s ODs need to know about keratoconus
  • Simplified strategies to enhance NK diagnosis and management
  • Co-management pearls essential for patient-centric care
  • New innovations in ocular aesthetics
  • Overcoming digital impacts on patient ocular comfort and vision

Educational sessions were moderated by Michael S. Cooper, OD. Speakers included preeminent optometrists and ophthalmologists including John C. Affeldt, MD; Ives A. Valenzuela, MD; Michael A. Singer, MD; Mitch Ibach, OD, FAAO; Cory J. Lappin, OD, MS, FAAO; Selina R. McGee, OD, FAAO; and many more.

Attendees of INSIGHT’s virtual component were able to watch the event in real time, participate in live Q&A, and engage with peers through a peer-to-peer chat function. Ultimately, the virtual audience consumed more than 8,200 hours of content presented by more than 25 distinguished speakers.

Fourteen sponsors, including Johnson & Johnson Vision, Astellas, and Dompe, also provided symposium content along with an innovative Exhibit Hall. Each day of the event garnered more than 800 booth pageviews per sponsor.

Testimonials from attendees included the following:

"Insight is probably one of the best and most well-organized CE events that I have been to. All of the speakers were engaging and educated on relevant topics. I particularly liked the Q&A sessions at the end of each lecture because they kept it engaging for everyone listening. In addition, the venue was very nice and the meals were exceptional. The snacks and coffee helped keep everyone awake and ready to listen to the next lecture. The reception at the end was a great way to network and also relax after a long day of lectures. I would definitely recommend this event in the future and will attend again. Thank you for a great event!"

"It was very educational and one of the best that I have ever attended over the past 20 years. The format and the way it was run was first class."

"Excellent event and venue. Very smooth flow from one talk to another. No hurdles. Great organization."

"Very impressed with the high quality to detail of organizing the conference. Down to the auditorium, speaker, topic selection, refreshment/beverage options, and food, I had a marvelous time and was glad that I attended."
