Cassini launches Cassini Connect, the market's first digital cataract surgery suite

Cassini launched the Cassini Connect; the market’s first digital cataract surgery suite compatible with most leading microscope brands.

Cassini Connect offers a seamlessly integrated cataract surgery workflow and data solution, from pre-op diagnostics, digital ocular registration and marking to cloud based surgery planning and intra-op visualization and guidance.

The Cassini Connect digital suite allows cataract surgeons to save 7 minutes per patient spent on the conventional method of using preoperative corneal ink marking by using the Cassini digital ocular registration instead.

The integrated platform allows the pre-op diagnostic data to feed into a cloud-based planner which is accessible from any laptop or smart device.

Trey Bishop MD, from Bishop Eye Center in Hilton Head, South Carolina, commented: “The Cassini Cloud Planner is operated with few steps, easy to use, streamlined and accessible from anywhere.”

Once the plan is approved by the surgeon, the data is sent to the OR—creating a worklist containing all relevant data for surgery. Each surgical plan is then translated to a customizable surgical overlay which is displayed on a monitor.

This allows for increased accuracy of the cataract surgery procedure, with image registration and toric IOL axis alignment within 3 degrees, according to company data on file.

One of the biggest benefits of the Cassini Connect suite is that it is compatible with most leading microscopes.

This makes it a very financially attractive upgrade to all surgeons who want to increase their premium cataract volumes with improved accuracy, and by saving substantial (OR) time per patient.

Jonathan Solomon MD, from Solomon Eye Associates in Bowie, Maryland, commented: “This is the future of surgical guidance and I encourage everyone to pursue this technology.”
